Answer: Microsoft manages replacement parts, such as CDs and manuals, by product version. Replacement parts will be available for the current version of the product and one earlier version (N-1). Answer : To update any information regarding your kit shipments, you will need to contact your Reseller. If you do not know who your reseller is, please contact either your purchasing department or Contracts administrator who should be able to provide you with your Reseller information. Question : I have not received my kit shipment. Who do I contact? Answer : If you have any questions regarding a particular kit shipment you will need to contact your Reseller, so that they can determine the status of your shipment and to also follow up with Microsoft as needed. Question : I have a lot of kit CDs and would like to know what CDs I can destroy? Answer : Each user will need to decide which CDs they should retain and which CDs they can destroy based on their companies software deployment needs. If some of your users are using older versions of software, or you may need an older version in the future, you will probably want to retain those CDs. Question : Why can’t I search for CDs shipped prior to Jan2001 on the UserGuide site? Answer : The User Guide site provides search results for kit CDs shipped as of Jan2001. However, on the User Guide site, under the "Archived User Guides" section we have provided older copies of the User Guides for Jan2000 to Nov2000. Question : What should I do if I am missing a CD? Answer : If you are missing a CD, please notify your reseller so that they can obtain a replacement. Answer : There may be a few different reasons why you are not able to find a particular product. It maybe that the product is not offered under the Volume Licensing program or else you may need to modify the spelling of the name that you are searching for. (Tip: To expand your search, type in a smaller portion of the product name.) Question : When does Microsoft ship monthly kit updates? Answer : Kit Subscriptions (also know as monthly Updates) are shipped the 1st week of each month. Question : How should I file my CDs? Answer : CDs may be filed in any number of ways and you will need to decide what is appropriate for your company. Since all media product groups are color coded as of Jan2001, you may find it convenient to file by color and then by either product name or product end item part number. Question : Can I print out the media software search results? Answer : Print search results by clicking on the printer icon of your browser. Question : Why are the CDs for Access, Excel, or FrontPage not include in my kit? Answer : For Volume Licensing kit customers, we provide a special Office Suites cd that allows you to do separate installs for various Office Applications, such as Access, Excel, FrontPage, or Outlook from just one CD. This media set is only available to in our fulfillment kits for Select, Enterprise, and Campus customers. Question: Once I order Microsoft Office Live Meeting, how do I install it? Answer: After your company has ordered or plans to order Microsoft Office Live Meeting through your licensing subscription, you must provision the product to start using it. It is not available as physical media in either your Volume Licensing Comprehensive or Subscription Kit. To provision Microsoft Office Live Meeting, go to https://main.placeware.com/LMVL/ and fill out the form as indicated. If you are already a Microsoft Office Live Meeting customer and would like to retain your current URL, please contact your sales rep who can assist you with updating your URL to a Volume Licensing URL.
Question: What do the acronyms in the product descriptions on MVLS download website signify? Answer: Volume Licensing Fulfillment media uses the following terminology in the item name description which appears on the MVLS download site:
‘MVL’ indicates media available in ‘Microsoft Volume Licensing" 'VLA' signifies Volume Licensing media. As of April 03, ‘ VLA’ is no longer used in the description of the end item and was replaced with "MVL". ‘Disk Kit’ typically denotes full code bits. Prior to April 03, both Service Packs and Full Code media were also coded as ‘Disk Kit". ‘IP’ stands for ‘Interface Pack’ for Windows OS Multilanguage CDs ‘UG Only’ signifies media available only in the Select or Enterprise Kits. These end items are not available for purchase separately. ‘MVLS Only’ signifies an end item that is only available on the MVLS download site ‘CD’ indicates the media type of the end item available in the Select/EA kits. 'ISO' denotes media is available for download as an ISO image. Example: 1.
